Art and Me.......

My name is Emily and I am the founder of Art History for Today and I live in the Dartmoor area of Devon which is part of  the South West of  the UK. I have lived here since 2002 when I moved from South of Wales. My art interests are the Italian Renaissance and the art of the Royal Collection which is the art of the Royal family of the UK. Before 2013 I was not interested in art AT ALL in fact I didn't any hobbies and was dabbing in different things but was bored a lot. 

But it was about to change and all for the good, I knew about the game Assassin's Creed but had never played it when someone at work talked about how the city - Florence Italy still looks similar to the game based in the renaissance. This was interesting to me and I wanted to know more as I loved Italy and made plans to visit. So in July 2013 I set foot in Florence for a three day visit where I fell in love with every inch of the city and its calm Italian way of life. I have been five more times from 2014 t0 2022 and I love it more every time that I visit. But one thing changed my life, we went to the largest gallery The Uffizi where I saw Botticelli's Birth of Venus. (1484-26) I was shocked how beautiful it was for the fact that it was 500+ years old. This was one of many in the Uffizi Galleria of that age and older

When I got back to the UK I wanted to find out more about the Italian Renaissance and bought some books and watched You Tube videos to learn more about the story of Florence. As I reached my 40th birthday I decided to do a Art History degree with added English Literature. I was not academic at all as a child so this was huge for me. But I loved being a student with the Open University, I met great people and I was learning so much even in 2020- the year of remote learning because of Covid 19.

I got my Degree in 2022 and ever since I thought I could  arrange and plan some classes for my friends who were going on holiday and  in early 2024 I started to plan a business where I could help everyone interested in art and its history. And here we are ready to go!
